today I hiked for 7.3 miles, no pics because the camera battery was dead. Got the idea of making a figure. Not sure if I like it or not. I guess it's still developing. Making a figure isn't as easy as I thought!

This is meant to be a narrative of my journey to find myself as an artist. I don't know what my medium will be, likely it will be a variety of things that move me. I feel the need to create, to bring into the world something of myself, the things that I think, the things that I find interesting, the things that make me me. I hope this works. I have millions of ideas about things that I would like to do, but they just slip away, day after day, buried under the debris of ordinary daily life. That makes me feel empty and I don't like it.

So on this day Day One of my attempt to do more than just dream, I will consider having created this blog my first work. Tomorrow my goal is to take pictures of anything and everything that I see that I find interesting, that moves me to dream or want to create as a response to how I feel.

this is my only attempt to do something freeform with crochet. I actually do like it and plan to do some work with it, incorporating my newest skill, knitting. Not sure what it will be exactly, only that I like the feeling of not knowing what it should be, just creating. I know that at the time I was thinking of a volcano erupting into water. The materials I used include various yarns and jute. Time to step outside the box and use some different materials, maybe wire or beads as well.  What I really think of is I would like to make something that could live outside in the garden and not decompose at too great a rate. I love seeing unusual things outside.
